DEPARTMENT OF ARCHAEOLOGY

Iron objects have been recovered from several other Early Historic sites in India, indicating that metal was widely used from the Early Historic period onwards. Moti Chher people were familiar with iron technology. From the explorations, iron objects like weapons viz. knife, tuyere, kiln wastes and slags were found. Unidentified iron objects were also found. The ore/slags found at a location indicate that the artefacts were made locally. Slags and lumps, tuyeres, and terracotta pipes were used to recover metal. Iron objects of this site are similar to the finds from the early historic sites like Hathab, Desalpar and Kanmer. Iron slag and kilns were found at the site.
